EL MIRADOR DEL PORTALET
What will you discover?
The gateway to the original site of the historic centre of El Poble Nou de Benitatxell. Located next to Santa Maria Magdalena church.
From the Portalet viewpoint you can admire the Montgó, the bay of Xàbia, the Cap de la Nau… and the terraced vineyards, where the muscatel grape grows.
What will you feel?
In this urban space with little traffic you will feel very calm thanks to the Llebeig wind that blows in summer and because of the views.
EL MORAIG
What will you discover?
One of the most beautiful natural spots on the Costa Blanca. The cove to which it gives its name, the Cova dels Arcs and the geological fault, considered a Natural Monument, make up an impressive ensemble to visit at any time of the year.
What will you feel?
There you will discover the pleasant sensation of the waves breaking on the pebbles, you will be able to swim in the cove and contemplate the spectacular view of the imposing Morro Falquí.
EL MORRO ROABIT
What will you discover?
An incredible viewpoint overlooking the Mediterranean Sea and the cliffs that dominate this stretch of coastline, with the Granadella and the Descubridor Island of Xàbia on the horizon.
Historically it has been a strategic place of vigilance against attacks by corsair pirates, reinforcing the control exercised from the watchtowers of Ambolo (Xàbia) and Cap d’Or (Moraira).
It was also an area of fishing grounds; fishing spots located in dizzying and highly dangerous places where the farmers of El Poble Nou would go to earn some extra money.
What will you feel?
At the viewpoint on the morro you will be able to hear the sea breeze and contemplate the flight of the sea birds that hover around the cliffs. And, above all, you will be able to be in silence looking out to the ocean.
LES FONTS PARK
What will you discover?
A park (with slides, zip-line, tables for meals, ropes) in a natural setting of olive trees and vineyards, designed on the original terraced land.
The terraces are divided by dry stone margins, an age-old technique from this area of the Mediterranean that has been declared Intangible Cultural Patrimony of Humanity by UNESCO.
What will you feel?
You will enjoy a concrete-free playground connected to a landscape of traditional trees.
You will be present in an ancestral way of life: the work of the vineyard, the production of oil, the carobs for the cattle or used in times of hunger
ELS POUS DE L'ABIAR
What will you discover?
A group of wells and cisterns whose construction dates back to the Muslim period. Abiar, in fact, is a word that means ‘area of wells’ in Arabic.
This hydraulic system supplied water to the horticultural area of the town. A windmill was built here at the beginning of the twentieth century and there was also a public washhouse, which is now being restored.
What will you feel?
In this spot you will enjoy the silent sound of the water and the sparrows that use it as a place to feed while you contemplate the historical patrimony of the surrounding area. And you will relive the importance of the land and irrigation in this area.
